Description
Located in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, this half-moon-shaped island became highly popular in 2002 after the broadcasting of the famous Korean drama ‘Winter Sonata’, as its most romantic scenes, such as the protagonists’ first kiss, were shot on this particular island. In 2006, following its skyrocketing popularity among Koreans and foreigners, Nami Island declared its cultural independence, becoming an imaginary country, the Naminara Republic, and creating its own flag, currency, stamps, and passport!
During your walk there, you will receive warm greetings from ostriches, squirrels, rabbits, deer, and other animals that live freely on the Island. Beautifully lined with majestic trees, the “Forest of Sweethearts” is a really popular spot as it becomes the subject of splendid photos in every changing season. Nami Island features many facilities such as water sport resorts, camping sites, and a theme park. It is perfect for families who want to create memorable memories in Korea!
Petite France is a French cultural village hidden in the suburbs of Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do. While visiting the village’s various French-style buildings, visitors will find several galleries, restaurants, and shops where they can experience the French culture. Various special shows are held every day, such as magic shows, music performances, or even a puppet show at the amphitheater. The concept of Petite France was inspired by the world-renowned novel ‘The Little Prince’, written in 1943 by Saint-Exupery.
Petite France has also successively been the filming site of various popular TV shows such as ‘Running Man’, ‘My Love From The Star’, ‘Secret Garden’ or ‘Beethoven Virus’, and much more.
Rail Bike (We strongly suggest you book earlier during April and October due to the high season for Cherry Blossom and Autumn leaves / This activity is suitable for all ages)
Built at the end of the Gyeongchun Line, which connects Seoul to Chuncheon, Gangchon Rail Park is a popular tourist attraction that has been featured in many popular TV Shows such as Running Man or We Got Married. You can ride twin bikes or quad bikes, and enjoy the lovely mountainous scenery reflected in the Bukhangang River clear waters while pedaling along the old railroad tracks at your own pace. Lighting effects and music will enhance your experience when passing through the tunnels. The course takes about 1 hour and a half to be cleared. There is a rest stop at the halfway mark where you can refresh yourself by buying food or drinks. It is a really good activity for lovers, families, or friends, as it requires some combined efforts without forgetting to provide a really fun experience!
Jade Garden (Recommended to visit during spring, summer, and autumn seasons)
Jade Garden is a vast European-style garden settled in a beautiful valley just a few kilometers away from Nami Island. The botanical garden is separated into the European Zone, the Landscape Zone, and the Skyview Zone. It boasts more than 3,000 different vegetal species carefully cultivated over 24 various themed areas, such as the English Border Garden, the Italian Garden, the Wild Flower Hill, or the Gingko Maze. After having chosen one of the 3 different itineraries, you will enjoy a peaceful walk among the graceful plants, suspended wooden bridges, waterfalls, fountains, and the particular European-style architecture. A Tuscan-style visitors’ center stays open to provide visitors with simple snacks, beverages, or souvenirs.
The Jade Garden was the shooting location for the Korean drama ‘Love Rain’, starring actors Jang Geun Seok and Yoona, as well as “The Winter, The Wind Blows” with Song Hye Kyo and Jo In Sung.
The Garden of Morning Calm is a 30,000㎡ garden. This is open year-round, and the garden was conceptualized by Professor Han Sang-kyung (Gardening Department, Sahmyook University) while he was serving as an exchange professor in America. His vision was to create a garden that would become world-famous and spread the concept of Korean beauty throughout the world. The inspiration for the garden stemmed from a poem written by Sir Tagore, a great Indian poet, who described Korea during the Joseon Dynasty as “The Land of the Morning Calm.”
The Garden of Morning Calm Lighting Festival (To be updated: December -March )
This Swiss-style park surrounded by mountains offers a breathtaking view for its visitors. Surname ‘small’ Switzerland in Korea due to the resemblance of the facilities inspired by Switzerland architecture, visitors will also enjoy the museum, gallery, experience programs, trick art and also, and overall the natural scenery. Each one of the 32 buildings has various themes: Love, The Nutcracker, Swiss culture, Cheese, Chocolate, Christmas, Bear, Coffee and etc.
Strawberry Farm (Strawberries are a seasonal fruit and available from December until May in Korea. / Every person <except infants> can pick 300g strawberries)
If you are a strawberry fan, you cannot miss this chance. Korea’s strawberries are very juicy and sweet. You can have your freshly picked strawberries wrapped in a box and bring them back with you.
Semiwon (Semiwon is closed on Mondays, and we recommend visiting it only during the summer)
Visitors can see many various water plants such as lotus flowers, water lilies, and irises. Walk on the paths which is made out of washboards with lotus-themed poetry and drawings, you can discover the water fountains, an observation deck, and Monet’s Garden, etc.
It actually means ‘two water range,’ and alludes to the spot where the Bukhangang River and the Namhangang River meet. The dock is showcasing an old-style ship and sobbing willows, adding to the place a rural charm. Another attraction is the three 400-year-old Zelkova trees that show up as one gigantic tree. There is also an exclusive spot, the site remains a famous place for shooting Korean TV dramatizations, films, advertisements, nature&wedding pictures.

We actually took 2 day tours – 1-day Old and New Seoul City Tour and 1-day Nami Island Tour (includes also Petite France and Garden of Morning Calm). Our guide was Brian Jeong for both days. He was a most fantastic and friendly guide. Our party comprised of a child, two adults and two elderly adults. Throughout the day tours on both days, he demonstrated great sensitivity towards the needs of our entire party, including looking out for ramp access for one of the elderly adults who had difficulty with steps. He was also knowledgeable about the sites he brought us to, and handled all our questions with ease. We especially liked his selections for lunch. Finally, he went beyond the call of duty and made an extra stop for us to pick up groceries after a long day, even though it was past the stipulated ending time of the day tour. Definitely choose OnedayKorea Tours & Travel and ask for Brian if you are looking to take in the sights of this city!

We loved this private day trip with our wonderful guide, Brian! His car was very comfortable and he told us so much about both the places we visited and Korean culture in general. We absolutely loved Nami Island and the Garden of Morning Calm. They’re both so, so beautiful and peaceful (and would have been hard to get to on our own). Petite France is kind of silly, but we don’t regret seeing it. Brian also took photos of us throughout the day and sent them through to us that evening–he knew all the most picturesque spots for us to pose, and we’re so grateful to have photos of us that aren’t just selfies! He also was kind enough to email me the title of a book I wanted to buy in Korean and where to buy it, complete with what exit of the subway stop to get out of.

We availed of the Nami Island tour, Joseon Dynasty Relics private tour, and Han river tour. Our agent is Yan and our tour guide is Brian. Arranging the tour with Yan is very easy. She is very responsive and she arranged the trip according to our preference. Furthermore, our tour guide Brian is very accommodating and knows very well the places in Korea. There was never a dull moment as he has interesting stories to tell not only about the places we visited but on Korea as a whole. I booked a 3 day private tour with One day Korea for our family trip to Seoul during the last weekend of October. The arrangements made in advance via email were easy and the tours were carried out without any problems. For the first two days, we had Smith1 with us and on the last day, Smith2. It was a bit amusing and odd that we got assigned 2 guides with the same name and personally, I think using their local names would’ve been ok if not better because it adds to the whole experience of being in Korea. Anyway, we absolutely had a wonderful time with both of them. Smith1 was the quiet photographer and Smith2 was a bit more high energy and interactive. I commend Smith1 for his patience with us at Nami island when all that my teenage kids wanted to do was take photos of the beautiful autumn scene going on there, unmindful of the other nice places to see. So Smith1 ended up touring just me to complete my Winter Sonata experience. Smith2 had a lot of stories to share about the DMZ and we appreciate his humour and enthusiasm very much. On the day, it was a flexible itinerary with helpful driver. I was planning on spending some days in korea since the kids were on vacation and I found onedaykorea. They sorted out a plan I liked you went straight to book it. When we got to Incheon, they picked us up and took to the hotel. The next day, our wonderful guide Benny who spoke very good english, took us to gapyeong. First, we went to ski for the kids, they indeed had a lot of fun and then after, we went to eat lunch. We tried hot spicy chicken (It looks like it’s a famous dish in the area) and was great! On 12th Oct,my 3 friends and I took a day trip to Garden of Morning Calm,Nami Island and we also rode on the railbike.Although we did not get to see the full spendour of the autumn leaves in the Garden of Morning Calm and Nami,we were still very impressed by the scenery and the great service rendered by Mr Benny Kim,our guide.He spoke English well and went beyond the call of duty.When one of us developed a skin rash owing to an allergy,he promptly drove us to a pharmacy to get help and medication.All in all,this day tour was the highlight of our Korean trip.I would highly recommend Benny and One Day Korea.

Benny was a great guide – obliging and pleasant. Highly recommend the one-day tour by One Day Korea for a relaxing, serene day out. We did Nami Island, Garden of the Morning Calm and the rail bike. It would be fabulous during fall, when the leaves turn red and golden yellow. Despite us missing the autumn colours, Garden of The Morning Calm was beautiful. Nami Island was pleasant. The rail bike was fun; you ride a bike built for four mounted on a former railway track around the rural countryside. You catch glimpses of the river, trees and pumpkin patches. Great value for the price charged by One Day Korea.

We took a personalized one day tour to Nami Island and the Garden of morning calm nearby. The guide Benny spoke English well so there were no issues with communication. He was very accommodating and friendly. My mother had to use the bathroom enroute and he quickly tried to find a place to stop. He was generally very helpful and attentive. He also gave us time by ourselves in the garden and island. Overall a very pleasant day and good way to spend a day outside of Seoul.

We had a great experience with our guide Benny Kim. He was so kind and funny, and took many pictures. We booked the Garden of Morning Calm, Zipline to Nami Island, and the Bungee Jump. All were a great experience and very exhilarating. We will definitely book another tour with One Day again!

Did a private tour with One Day Korea with a few friends and had a blast! We did the Rail bike, zipline to Nami Island, and the Garden of Morning Calm. Our tour guide Smith arrived on time and was kind enough to accommodate multiple pick up and drop off points. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and brought us to a restaurant with delicious local fare. He even suggested a dinner place for us to go to after the tour. Overall amazing experience, would recommend!

Found this tour from web search for Private tours in Seoul. Travelling in a group of 3 pax looking to experience all aspect of Korea. Joined 3 of their tour: Gapyeong, Mt. Soerak, and Andong Hahoe! Thumbs up for all tours! We’ve got to experienced all as we dine in at traditional markets where only locals are there. Two thumbs up for our guide, Brian. No language barrier as he is fluent in English, very informative, and also patient on the traffic condition . Very recommended tour ang tour guide!

It was a fun and memorable 2 days tour with One Day Korea. Bryan, our guide was fantastic, caring, have a very good sense of humours, and also flexible in rearranging the schedule to suit our interest.
Throughout the tour, Bryan had taken good care for both of me and my girl friend. He was fluent in English and active in offering us interesting facts about Korean history, culture, the places we were visiting and of course capturing our memories with his cameras.
Overall, it was a great experience with One Day Korea and special thanks to our TS Bryan!

Had an enjoyable 2 days private tour with Bryan of One Day Korea. In the short 2 days, we manage to visit Nami Island, Petite France and tried the Gangchon Rail Bike on the 1st day and had Hanbok wearing and Kimchi making experience, drove up to the hill of the N Seoul Tower had the Hangang River Cruise and saw the Banpo Rainbow Bridge Fountain plus had Fried Chicken & Beer delivered to the area along the Han River on the 2nd.

It was a fantastic 3 days trip for me, my wife and my parents to Seoul, Suwon and Nami Island. Booking our day trips with Oneday Korea was very easy. The itinerary was perfect and our guide was very knowledgeable about Korea history and culture, he also recommended good restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. Its our second day in Korea when we meet Terry, he is our Tour Guide to Nami Island.Exactly 12pm he already at Hotel Lobby to pick us and bring to Nami Island, Its winter time and the road is a bit slippery but he can manage to drive safely. The tour goes smooth, we had a lot of fun, and since me and my friends love photos to remember here in korea he is the one who take good photos of us. Very efficient and highly recommended tour guid from One Day Korea #imlovingit.. I will definetly recomend this to my friends who wants to travel korea.. Thumbs Up!!!

We booked two tours with One Day Korea to Nami Island, Gangchon Rail, Jade Garden and Seoraksan, Sokcho. Our tour specialists Duke and Terry were great! They are careful drivers who made the journey safe and comfortable especially for the 3hr long drive to Seoraksan. No shopping tours, no rush, at your pace and straight to sights and good food places recommended by them as we were keen to try the local food. (stuff you wont find in Seoul). They are great photographers too! We were provided beautiful pictures of our day trips FOC:) We learned much about the local scene and culture through them. Will definitely book One Day Korea if we visit again!
