We pick up from your hotel at 8 a.m. Visit the popular winter festival – The Hwacheon Sancheoneo (Mountain Trout) Ice Festival (얼음나라 화천 산천어축제, this festival is held from 11 Jan until 26 Jan 2020 in Hwacheon county of Gangwon-do this year. Visitors can try ice fishing or catch the mountain trout with their bare hands during winter. Festival offers many other fun activities and performances, such as an exhibition of ice sculptures that took 20 weeks to prepare, snow sledding, ice sledding, creative sleigh, Elgomi Castle, Elgomi Bike, ice soccer, bobsleigh,h and fun rides, etc. Visitors can also eat raw and grilled mountain trout after fishing. Before going back to Seoul, we moved to The Garden of Morning Calm, which is a 30,000㎡ garden. This is open year-round, and the garden was conceptualized by Professor Han Sang-kyung (Gardening Department, Sahmyook University) while he was serving as an exchange professor in America. His vision was to create a garden that would become world-famous and spread the concept of Korean beauty throughout the world. The inspiration for the garden stemmed from a poem written by Sir Tagore, a great Indian poet, who described Korea during the Joseon Dynasty as “The Land of the Morning Calm.” The lighting festival is only held during winter every year!
