Description

Located on the east side of South Korea’s largest mountain chain, Gangneung is a lovely port city and the largest one on the Gangwon-do coast. It still holds a great number of well-preserved treasures, such as Joseon era buildings, and offers great scenery of coastal villages and a white sandy beach to its visitors. Gangneung is an ideal tourist destination when summer comes, as the seaward wind and seascape will refresh your body and mind in an instant.

Jumunjin Beach

Jumunjin Beach is the most beautiful place in Gangneung, and it is a great place for healing and relaxing thanks to the clear water. This place is also one of the shooting locations of the Korean drama ”Goblin”.

Gyeongpodae Pavilion and Gyeongpo Lake

Located on a hill, Gyeongpodae is a traditional Korean-style Pavilion providing a panoramic view of the mountains, the lake, the sea, and the pine grove by Gyeongpo beach. It is a perfect hideout to look for some peace and enjoy the cool breeze coming from the sea. Just in front of it, there is a large lake, which is a popular spot among residents to enjoy the good weather. Formed by the pebbles brought by the sea currents, there is a 4km path along its shore where you can take a walk or go biking while passing several Korean traditional pavilions and enjoying the beautiful view.

Anmok Beach

People in Gangneung are well-known for their passion for coffee, and the city welcomes a variety of high-quality local brands, as well as a famous coffee street located in front of Anmok Beach. The city made coffee its own asset, and master baristas and their independent local coffee shops made the city into a true coffee paradise.

In this place, you can have brunch and relax while taking in the surrounding natural beauty of the beautiful white sandy beach and crystal blue water of the East Sea.
