You will discover two parts of Incheon: a historic site filled with traces of the modernization of Korea and the slick and modernized New Town.
When Chinese merchants were finally allowed to trade with Korea in 1883, Incheon became their city of choice to bring goods. That is how Incheon came to have the first and biggest Chinatown in South Korea. Nowadays, this area boasts many restaurants with Chinese-Korean fusion cuisine such as jajangmyeon (Korean black bean sauce noodles) & Jiamppong (Korean spicy seafood noodles). In Chinatown, visitors can enjoy the delicious dishes and discover fascinating buildings and museums from the 19th Century, such as traditional Chinese gates, a Taoist Temple, Chinese schools, culture exchange centers, and a mural depicting the story of the Three Kingdoms.
It’s in Incheon that several scenes of the internationally acclaimed K-drama ‘Goblin’ were filmed. Among the shooting locations are Art Platform, Jemulpo Gurakbu (Foreigners’ Social Club), Geu-Mart, and some spots around Jayu Park.
Jayu Park, also known as Freedom Park, got its name when a statue of General MacArthur, who successfully led the Incheon Amphibious Landing Operation during the Korean War, was erected at the summit of Mt. Eungbongsan. This is Korea’s first Western-style green park. Visitors can enjoy the views of downtown Incheon, the surrounding mountains, the harbor facilities, and the beautiful beach.
After taking a stroll in Jayu Park, we will arrive at Fairy Tale Village is also known as Songwol-dong Fairy Town Village. This is a beautiful place to take pictures and take a walk around after lunch, as it is Chinatown. Painted houses and window frames decorate the whole village. Paintings of fairy-tale story characters, animals, flowers, rainbow stairs, and more are scattered around this town. Such a Fairy Tale Wonderland!
Next, you will discover a site that is direct proof of the religious influx from the Western World in Incheon. Dap-dong Catholic church is a Gothic-style brick architecture, first built in 1897, and is one of the oldest Western-style architectures in Korea. Wilhelm’s successor designed this Gothic-style cathedral, which has a ground plan in the shape of a cross and is built mainly in red bricks, with granite in some important parts. A set of beautiful rose windows decorates the central front entrance.

We had 4 hours to do some sightseeing in Inchon and the One Day Korea Tour people gave us a wonderful and very interesting time.
If you have any time at all to see Inchon I would highly recommend this Tour Group. They are fantastic. Went out of their way to allow us to do some shopping as well as the sights they had down for us to visit.
If there were more stars to give I would give them.

Having only very limited time in Seoul we managed to find a half day tour with One Day Korea that took us to places normal tourists would not visit. It was a pleasure meeting our tour guide Smith Chong who was flexible and communicated in very good English. He made the tour a fulfilling one given the short time we had while in transit in Seoul. I would definitely join the other One Day Korea tours again and would highly recommend this personalised tour company. Thanks for taking all our photos Smith and hope to you again next time. Best regards, Paul and Stephany.
